Patrick Buisson passed away this Tuesday, December 26, at the age of 74at his home in Sables-d’Olonne (Vendée), as reported Le Figaro. The former advisor to Nicolas Sarkozy and fervent defender of the union of the rights leaves behind his former partner, a retired accountant, as well as her only child, Georges Buisson. The latter has also spoken on several occasions about his illustrious father. And for good reason, the two men evolved together in the audiovisual world.
Journalist for the far-right weeklyMinuteor even forCurrent values, Patrick Buisson therefore worked for a time alongside his son for Histoire, a channel of the TF1 group. A father/son collaboration that did not take place under the best auspices. “We were in conflict on the History channel, we grabbed each other within the group and we were separated. Me, I was plastered and him, he remained director of the History channel”, Georges Buisson remembered on the set ofDaily(TMC), in 2019. A brawl which started when he discovered the existence of recordings of Nicolas Sarkozy made by Patrick Buisson, an affair which shook the political sphere in 2014. “He exposed me to this company in the Élysée poll affair, because I was manager of his company. And I realized that he was using the means of society for personal purposes. The company’s human and financial resources”, he lamented to our colleagues.

Patrick Buisson, a “not very warm” man
If Patrick Buisson has distinguished himself more than once on the public stage, he has been less talkative about his private life. In 2014,Pointhad attempted to paint a more precise portrait of this son of an engineer at EDF. The newspaper then described him as a man “not very warm”, fleeing “the sun, never lingering at the table, not liking sports” and moderately pious. “I never saw him go to mass outside of funerals”, a far-right personality would have whispered to our colleagues. Finally, he would have admired the French writer, polemicist and far-right politician Édouard Drumont or the anti-Dreyfusards Charles Maurras.
