The world of Parisian nightlife is in mourning with the disappearance, this Sunday, May 1 at the age of 92, of Régine. The businesswoman, known for her career as a singer, notably with the songs Les Petits papiers and La Grande Zoa, had also appeared on the big screen and in the series Scenes from households.

Queen of the Parisian nightlife from 1956 with the opening of her nightclub Chez Régine, she quickly developed her franchise into around twenty discotheques all over the world. She rubs shoulders with the biggest stars while leading a solo musical career. From time to time, she joins the cast of feature films, often in secondary roles or cameos, and sometimes in her own role.

Régine thus appeared in the comedy La Gamberge by Norbert Carbonnaux (1962) then in The Knife in the Wound by Anatole Litvak the same year. Philippe de Broca calls on her in his own role for the needs of Un monsieur de compagnie with Jean-Pierre Cassel and Catherine Deneuve. Four years later, she has a small role in Mazel Tov or the marriage of Claude Berri.

In 1970, Régine starred in Emergency Release (1970), an unknown film in which she showed that she was completely credible in a drama. She embodies a failed actress indulging in all the fantasies (some sometimes dangerous) to feel alive. This decade sees her shooting for Pierre Granier-Deferre (The Train), Herbert Ross (Sherlock Holmes attacks the Orient-Express) and Claude Lelouch (Robert and Robert). She finally embodies a second significant role of ex-prostitute in Les Ripoux by Claude Zidi.

Régine’s last appearance was on the small screen in 2014, for the series Scenes of households, in the role of Emma’s grandmother (Anne-Elisabeth Blateau). Finally, note that his memoirs, entitled Call me by my first name, were brought to the screen in 1996 with the TV movie My name is Régine, which saw Claire Keim lend him his features.
