Johnny Hallyday fans have just learned of the disappearance of his faithful guitarist, who accompanied him for 23 years. Robin Le Mesurier has just passed away from cancer.

A few hours ago the Parisian announced the disappearance of Robin Le Mesurier, faithful guitarist of Johnny Hallyday, who accompanied him on stage and in the studio from 1994 to 2017. He had been met there by our colleagues barely three weeks ago in Los Angeles for the promotion of the documentary on their American tour in 2014. On this occasion, Laeticia Hallyday presented it as “a member of the family”. According to our colleagues, it appeared “a little tired, the face paler than usual, the white voice”, but nothing foreshadowed such a fate. Robin Le Mesurier passed away on Tuesday, December 22 at the age of 68 from cancer. It is on their social networks that the musician’s relatives announced the sad news.

“I am heartbroken to learn of the disappearance of my dear friend, Robin Le Mesurier. You will always be in our hearts“, posted Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon, accompanying his post with a photo of the guitarist. Harmonicist Greg Zlap, who took part in the Vieilles Canailles tour bringing together Eddy Mitchell, Jacques Dutronc and Johnny Hallyday, also had a thought for the guitarist. “Born to be wild … This is how I will always remember you, my friend Robin”, he wrote on his Instagram account.
“We never left each other”
It’s thanks to his album in English Rough town that Johnny Hallyday was noticed by Robin Le Mesurier. At the time, the guitarist was taking the stage alongside Rob Stewart. He thus participated in four of his albums from 1980 to 1986. His meeting with Johnny Hallyday was obvious. “The first time I met Johnny, in Los Angeles, it’s like we’ve always known each other. And we’ve never left each other. In 23 years of working together, we’ve never had a single disagreement.”, Robin Le Mesurier told the Parisian. The two musicians never left each other until the death of the French rocker in 2017.
