The death of Yvan Colonna, which occurred three weeks after his attack in Arles prison, raises several questions in the eyes of Pascal Praud. On the set of his show, the host expressed his doubts about the case.
Yvan Colonna died of his injuries on the evening of Monday March 21, following an attack on March 2 in the prison of Arles, where he was imprisoned for the murder of the prefect Érignac. The Corsican independence activist leaves behind two children, as well as a woman he married in prison.
The next morning, the death of Yvan Colonna was on all the sets, including that of L’heure des pros, on NEWS. Drama probably won’t fix tensions between Corsica and the French statewhich had revived during the month of March, with several urban violence.
On the set of NEWS, Pascal Praud began his program with the subject Yvan Colonna. While the discussion is moderately lively, the presenter of Time for the pros shared a theory that would explain the lack of monitoring which would have allowed Yvan Colonna’s attacker to attack him on March 2: “To tell you the truth, I obviously can’t prove what they’re saying here, but there’s something that’s not clear. I don’t mind that we have plenty of cameras for eight minutes, but there, I have a feeling there was no one in the video room (…) and they can’t tell“he was indignant.
Pascal Praud questions the quality of security measures in Arles prison
The host of the set, visibly very upset, was instantly cut off by one of his interlocutors, who urged him not to expose this kind of thesis: “No, you shouldn’t say that Pascal”intervened Karl Olive, mayor of Poissy.
Pascal Praud obviously didn’t care about the recommendations of his guests, and continued to question the security of the Arles prison: “I feel it, but I can’t prove it. When you have ten cameras in front of you, I imagine that whoever looks at them must see what is happening over eight minutes“he continued to say, asking the number of cameras present in the prison.
While Karl Olive informed him that fifty cameras are installed in the prison of Arlesthe journalist of NEWS did not take off: “If there are fifty cameras and people can’t see them for eight minutes, it may take two or three people“he finished.
