Announced in December 2022, Death Stranding 2 should plunge us back into the strange world of Sam Porter Bridges. If we are still waiting to see more about this sequel which promises to be surprising, we have finally been treated to some news, directly given by Hideo Kojima.

Still in development alongside the newly announced OD, Death Stranding 2 should invite us to return to a strange world where humans have been disconnected, where the rain makes everything age and where babies are used to detect “stranded” souls, full of ‘antimatter. Obviously, Sam Porter Bridges is not finished with this story, and the trailer released promises even more strangeness and “meta” talk.

Death Stranding 2: the project is progressing, Kojima gives us some information

Since the game’s announcement, Kojima Productions has been very discreet about the game’s progress. At the beginning of December, the Japanese game designer attended the Game Awards, but it was to announce OD, a production signed by Microsoft and which we understand to be the Overdose project which had leaked. For Death Stranding 2, in which we will find Norman Reedus, Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna, Hideo Kojima talks about a sequel which will be quite different from what we might expect and about a game containing things which were not not achievable before, but nothing very concrete for the players.

In a post published on X (formerly Twitter) shortly before the New Year, Hideo Kojima shed some light on us. He notably declares that the year 2024 will be marked by the simultaneous production of Death Stranding 2 and OD. He also specifies that there are still re-recordings of dialogue to be done, on “DS2”, but that the recording of the Japanese voice-overs should begin shortly.

Regardless, production on the title is in full swing, as Hideo Kojima added that he wanted to limit his travel in order to concentrate on his work. Let’s not forget, however, that in parallel with the games, Hideo Kojima plans to relaunch his YouTube channel, and that he is supervising the production of the adaptation of the first Death Stranding to the cinema, entrusted to the A24 studio (Midsommar, The Lighthouse)
