Decarbonization of the aviation sector: Global Bioenergies extends its technological process to the production of e-SAF
• a unique e-SAF in the world with a record selectivity rate of 95% compared to existing technologies
• a complementary approach to the SAF technology already certified by ASTM, substituting the plant resource with a synthetic resource
Evry, July 10, 2024 – 5:45 p.m.: Global Bioenergies announced today that it has adapted its process for converting plant resources into Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) to the production of e-SAF, using acetic acid as a resource.
e-SAFs are derived from the combination of (i) CO2 and (ii) hydrogen produced from renewable electricity; the production of acetic acid is feasible from these two elements alone. e-SAFs maximize decarbonization impacts and represent an alternative to bio-SAFs, which rely on the use of plant resources for their production.
The e-SAF approach developed by Global Bioenergies stands out with a selectivity of over 95%, meaning that over 95% of the molecules produced by the process can be marketed as aviation fuel. This selectivity exceeds that of other existing e-SAF technologies.
