Guido Maria Kretschmer has an eye for furnishings – and loves to make his own autumn decorations. In an interview, he reveals which decoration trend he can’t get enough of.
We just sat on the terrace until late at night, now the darkness is chasing us back into our four walls in the late afternoon. The cold season automatically ensures that we spend more time indoors. But that doesn’t mean that we have to say goodbye to nature completely. Well wrapped up, it is particularly worthwhile to pay her a visit or two. Not only to enjoy the pleasant autumn air and the colorful treetops, but also to take a piece of nature home with you.
Don’t worry – we’re not talking about chestnut males here. And we have also dried maple leaves enough between the pages of books since our school days. It’s time for a breath of fresh air in the autumn decoration. And at best it is so sustainable and beautiful that we can take it with us into winter right away.
When we met Guido Maria Kretschmer for an interview, he went into raptures about decoration. Because what few people know: not only when it comes to fashion, the designer is also a true fan of DIY in his own home. He gathers the inspiration – and sometimes the ingredients – directly from nature.

But be careful: As an animal lover, Guido immediately tells us not to steal too much fruit from the soil. After all, the forest dwellers would feed on them and they could use some food for the winter. Instead, the designer prefers to rely on what the forest gives him. For example, branches that have already died and fallen trees.
“I like dry branches very much, large, dry branches that are beautifully basic and only tell about fallen leaves,” reveals Guido Maria Kretschmer, “that brings beautiful moments of light and shadow.” You can make a lot of the material – or just admire it decoratively in the candlelight as it casts beautiful shadows.
If you feel like doing something yourself, Guido Maria Kretschmer has the instructions for your own little autumn decorations ready: “There are such beautiful bark that you can find in the forest that you can put in large bowls, dry and put some scented oil on them to make it perfect, “he enthuses. And while you’re at it, you can add a little greenery straight away: “Mosses are also beautiful and can be wonderfully combined and arranged with existing plants and decorative elements,” explains the designer and adds with a wink: “I prefer than this 100th chestnut. ” Us too Guido, us too – we thank you.
