Summer is just around the corner! It’s high time to devote yourself to the design of your terrace and balcony. These are the best decoration tips.
In spring and summer, the apartment expands to include another room – the balcony. If you like to spend time at home in the warm season, you should make the small outdoor area a cozy retreat. From furniture to plants to small decorative items – the options are endless.
The right furniture and good privacy protection
In addition to cozy pillows and cozy blankets, outdoor carpets provide even more living room character. It is important that it is largely weatherproof.
A privacy screen, such as a parasol or awning, is also practical. This also ensures more privacy and protects against disturbing glances, but also from the sun. Large plants are another option, such as bamboo, ivy, Virginia creeper or miscanthus.
Balcony oasis: These plants are suitable
Of course, other green or colorful plants should not be missing on the balcony. The direction of the compass is crucial when making your selection: daisies, petunias or geraniums look good on sunny, south-facing balconies, as do Mediterranean herbs such as thyme, lavender or rosemary – they are also insect-friendly.
Tomatoes, citrus trees and strawberries can also be best planted on sunny balconies. If you have enough space, you can use a raised bed. Begonias, fuchsias or hydrangeas look good on shady north-facing balconies.
The perfect lighting for the balcony
Another guarantee of comfort is the right lighting. Especially when it slowly gets dark in the evening, the right lamps create a particularly atmospheric ambience. If you are particularly ambitious, you can install recessed lights or wallwashers.
Portable outdoor lights are particularly practical; Candles, lanterns and fairy lights create a romantic atmosphere. There are also many solar-powered lights on the market that charge throughout the day and shine when night falls.
