Dell introduces a new display ratio in the market for gaming laptops with the G16, a solid evolution of the G15.

It is indeed the very first product in this category to offer a 16″ screen with a 16:10 ratio and a resolution of 2560 x 1600.

A clear improvement over the G15

What is the most… screen-busting with this new gaming laptop from Dell is above all its 16″ panel which presents for the first time in the field a 16:10 ratio with a resolution of 2560 x 1 600. It also has a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz, 300 nits of brightness and is G-Sync compatible.

If we do not yet know the response time or the type of panel used, we know at least that the choice of the 16:10 format allowed Dell to install this screen in a 15 “chassis. This allows the G16 to take advantage of 11% more screen space compared to the G15.

Otherwise, laptop gamer requires, it embeds a solid technical sheet to display the games in their best light on this brand new screen. Indeed, count an Intel Core i7 12700H 14-core processor clocked at up to 4.70 GHz and 20 threadsup to 16 GB of DDR5 4800 MHz RAM (for a maximum capacity of 32 GB), and a 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD. The G16 can accommodate up to 2 TB of storage space.

On the graphics card side, there are three options: the base model offers an RTX 3050 Ti, but it is possible to opt for either an RTX 3060 Ti, or an RTX 3070 Ti, depending on the needs.

Several options for a more or less affordable PC

The choice of graphics card will also define part of the G16’s connectivity. The base model does not have a Thunderbolt 4 port, unlike models equipped with an RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 Ti. For the rest, there is in all cases an HDMI 2.1 port, three USB-A ports, a combo jack / microphone socket and an Ethernet port. Support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 are also of course there.

Depending on the choice of model, the battery will also change, offering either 56 WHr or 86 WHr. Similarly, there are three options regarding the keyboard. On the basic model, it will have a single RGB zone. The second option offers RGB lighting per key, while the last option also allows the integration of CherryMX switches for better typing precision. We can however deplore, regardless of the model, the absence of a digital pad.

The G16 is expected to hit the market today, with a base model therefore featuring an RTX 3050 Ti, 8GB of RAM, no Thunderbolt 4, 56WHr battery, and a keyboard with solid RGB lighting displayed at 1,400 euros.
