DeLorean has unveiled the first images of its next Alpha5, an all-electric revisit of the legendary model from the 80s. The design is relatively similar to that of the car from Back to the future, except that the latter will not allow travel in time.

If the rather atypical design for the time of the car had contributed to its popularity in the 80s, it is indeed the trilogy of Back to the future which raised the vehicle to the rank of pop icon. 40 years later, the manufacturer finally returns to the charge. The 2020s oblige, this new model is entirely electric.

Of course, we find thethe famous seagull wings which made it famous, as well as the angular body of the DMC-12. Inside, however, the car literally leapt into the future — no pun intended.

Thus, future owners will be able to count on an infotainment system similar to that of Tesla cars and on a modern dashboard that will show all driving data. The whole is rather minimalist and clean, giving free rein to the flexible design of the passenger compartment. Note that the Alpha5 is 2.99 m long by 2.04 m wide and 1.97 high, which is similar to the dimensions of the Porsche Taycan.
Under the hood is therefore an engine powered by a 100 kWh battery, which gives it a range of 480 km. The car will be able to go from 0 to 140 km/h in 4.35 seconds. We will note all the same a price for the less high, since this model will be marketed around the $100,000. In other words, this new model is aimed above all at the biggest fans of Back to the future – with a well-stocked wallet.
