Beach Boys star Brian Wilson is ill and needs guardianship. Who will take care of him?

Brian Wilson (81) suffers from dementia. According to court documents, the musician known as the creative mind of the Beach Boys is said to have who have “The Blast”, will no longer be able to care for themselves and treat their illness.

Wilson’s wife recently died

Until recently, Wilson’s wife and longtime manager, Melinda Ledbetter, had been caring for her ailing husband. She died last month at the age of 77. Melinda had also accompanied Wilson through mental illness, according to People he called her his “health manager.” Now it is feared that Wilson will not be able to “consent to the administration of medications appropriate for the care and treatment of neurocognitive disorders (including dementia),” according to the documents.

Since no successor for Melinda was listed in the living will, Wilson’s team applied to the court to appoint a guardian. Two long-time representatives of the musician want to take on this job in the future: LeeAnn Hard is Wilson’s long-time business manager, Jean Sievers Wilson’s long-time press spokesman.

In coordination with Brian, his children, doctors and housekeeper

The plans for a guardianship were shared on social media and the musician’s website confirmed. It says the decision was made “after careful consideration and consultation between Brian, his seven children, Gloria Ramos and Brian’s doctors (and in accordance with the family procedures established by Brian and Melinda).” Ramos is Wilson’s housekeeper.

The aim was to ensure “that there would be no extreme changes in the household and for Brian and the children living at home”. The statement continued: “Brian will enjoy time with his family and friends, continue to work on current projects and be able to participate in any activities of his choice.”

A court hearing on Wilson’s conservatorship is scheduled for April 26, 2024.
