Demi Lovato declares on Twitter that he will identify as non-binary. The contribution opens “for me a new level of vulnerability”.

The music and acting star Demi Lovato (28) identifies as a non-binary person. Lovato announced this on Twitter: “Today is a day that I am so happy to share more of my life with you all. I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and change my pronouns to they / them in the future will.”

People with non-binary gender identity do not clearly define themselves as male or female. Lovato’s Twitter post follows a time of healing and self-reflection. Even the star is still learning and does not claim to be an expert: “To share this with you now opens up a new level of vulnerability for me.”

Lovato take this step for the people “out there who cannot share who they really are with their loved ones. Please keep living your truths and be sure that I send you a lot of love.” In one additionally published video Lovato further explains that he had the “revelation” to identify himself as non-binary. The change of the pronouns to “they / them” makes it possible to feel as authentic as possible as the person who Lovato is and is still discovering.
