“Far-right forces are not welcome”
The three left-wing organizations which call for participation in the march, propose to create “a republican cordon” to “distinguish in the demonstration a procession bringing together all the republicans and progressives on the one hand and the National Rally and the far-right forces on the other hand, to whom we do not recognize any legitimacy to demonstrate against anti-Semitism. They do not specify at this stage the modalities of this sanitary cordon.
The three parties ask the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet and the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher, who initiated this march, to “declare publicly that far-right forces are not welcome”. “The remarks made last Sunday by the president of the RN, Jordan Bardella, who refuses to recognize the anti-Semitism of the founder of his party, Jean-Marie Le Pen, are contrary to the call for this march,” they add.
Only La France insoumise announced that it would not participate in this demonstration, judging that “we cannot fight anti-Semitism and racism in confusion”. “The ambiguity of the objectives of this approach allows for the most unbearable support,” says the party which refuses to march alongside the RN.
