The 3rd season of “Derry Girls” starts on Netflix – and delivers you the finale of the teen series. This is how series creator Lisa McGee responds to fan requests for a fourth season.
- The third season of the teen comedy “Derry Girls” starts on October 7, 2022 on Netflix.
- With the new six episodes, the coming-of-age story for the streaming service comes to an end.
- Series creator LisaMcGee has already given a clear rejection of a fourth season.
With the third season of “Derry Girls”, the six final episodes of the black humorous comedy series about a teenage clique that is slowly growing up in Northern Ireland’s second largest city start on October 7, 2022.
The “Derry Girls” spend their youth in an exciting time: the Northern Ireland conflict, in English only called “The Trouble”, entered its final phase in the mid-90s. Accordingly, for series creator Lisa McGee, born in 1980 in Derry, Northern Ireland, the series was more than just any project, but a living memory.
So it’s understandable that the author of the series didn’t want to extend the “Derry Girls” format, which was originally planned to have three seasons, for a fourth season, despite its popularity. Rejoice in the new episodes with “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan (Clare) as well as Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Michelle), Louisa Harland (Orla) and Dylan Llewellyn (James).
