The past few years have been tough, one crisis has followed the other, and the economic situation in Vorarlberg is correspondingly bleak at the moment: For many people, inflation can hardly be borne anymore, there is a slump in construction, exports are collapsing, and there is unemployment increases. In view of this situation, one can sometimes start to ponder – as the people of Vorarlberg apparently do. At least that is what the results of the latest pension study by Sparkassen, Erste Bank and Wiener Städtische suggest: When asked about their expectations for the next 12 months, only 29 percent said they were confident about the future. 43 percent are “skeptical” and 23 percent are even “concerned”.
