Despicable Me 4: what do we know about the new Minions saga film?

Me, ugly and nasty 3 is broadcast this Sunday evening on TF1. While The Minions 2 was released on July 6 in our dark rooms, will there be a fourth installment in the main franchise?

Despicable Me 3 airs tonight on TF1. While the second spin-off dedicated to the adventures of the Minions is currently in theaters, what do we know about the fourth film in the main saga?

Released in July 2017, Despicable Me 3 recorded more than 1 billion dollars worldwide while Minions 2: Once Upon a Time Gru, (in theaters since July 6) released with 2 years of delayed due to the pandemic, totals, to date, 426 million dollars at the international box office.

It is the most lucrative animation franchise at the world box office with already 3.5 billion dollars recorded for 5 films. So it seems logical for Universal and Illumination to continue the adventures of Gru and his Minions on the big screen.

Directed by Chris Renaud, to whom we already owe the first 2 parts of the saga, and Patrick Delage (animation director on the two opuses Tous en scène), Me, ugly and wicked 4 is written by Mike White (The White Lotus), which makes its arrival on the saga.

Steve Carell will again dub the not so bad Gru in VO while Kristen Wiig, who lends her voice to Lucy, resumes her role. On his side, Pierre Coffin double again the small yellow beings. We imagine that Gad Elmaleh will take over the role of Gru in the French version and that Audrey Lamy will once again lend her voice to Gru’s lover.

Minions quiz: do you know the creatures of Despicable Me?

For the moment the scenario is still kept secret but according to Chris Meledandri, the boss of Illumination studios, the story will be fantastic. The latter specifies at the microphone of the site BloombergWe’re not out of breath yet“.

Despicable Me 4 hits theaters July 23, 2024. In the meantime, Minions 2: Once Upon a Gru is currently in theaters.
