The Adneter municipal council said “yes”: At the meeting on Thursday evening, the majority of local politicians acknowledged the controversial expansion of sun protection manufacturer Schlotterer and took the necessary decisions.
There were only four dissenting votes. The municipality thus approved the conversion of around five hectares of grassland into an industrial area and traffic area. Now it’s the country’s turn to make further decisions. Schlotterer aims to start construction at the end of 2023. Schlotterer intends to invest a total of 120 million euros. According to the company, around 750 new jobs will be created by 2035. The “Save the Adnet Fields” initiative has been mobilizing against the plans for months. Most recently, 430 signatures were collected for a citizen survey on the Schlotterer expansion – and failed with full force. The municipal electoral authority declared all signatures invalid. The initiative is now taking legal action. “If necessary, to the Constitutional Court,” it says to the “Krone”.
