Despite austerity measures – new municipal director wants to improve salaries

With 33 votes out of 40, Max Tischler was confirmed as the new municipal director in the local council. As reported, he prevailed in a controversial selection process – and has now announced a salary change. At the same time, the city decided to cut costs.

Carpenter was appointed to the local council on Wednesday against the votes of the citizens’ list. Two challenges now await him: structural reform and a new salary scheme. The latter has already been planned for two years and is intended to make the city competitive again as an employer. Carpenter wants to increase entry-level salaries.

A changeover is already possible next year – despite the austerity measures to which the majority of city politicians have committed themselves: According to city boss Harald Preuner, 25.3 million euros must be saved in the framework budget.

The renovation and new buildings of the elementary schools and the kindergarten in Lehen were decided unanimously. The new components are built using a wood hybrid construction method – ideally only when the wood price has recovered.
