Rick and Morty are not at the end of their crazy adventures. And this, despite the departure of Justin Roiland, co-creator, producer and voice actor for the main characters in the series. Season 7 promises to be just as qualitative as the others, with a few differences however.

In September the trailer for the 7 was releasede season of the series. On this occasion, we were able to notice that the voices of the protagonists were no longer the same. Indeed, Justin Roiland was the voice actor for Rick and Morty since the start of the series. But it was removed from production on January 24, 2023 by the television channel Adult Swim, after suspicions of domestic violence. Despite this, the series seems to have retained its rather crazy DNA.

Justin’s departure is not a goodbye for the series

Justin Roiland provided a number of voices, in addition to those of the main characters. This is also the case for Dan Harmon, the other creator of the series. When iconic characters in a cartoon change voice actors, a whole world can collapse for fans.

Even if the replacement voice actors are not known, the arrival of season 7 certainly relieves fans of the series. The trailer clearly demonstrates that the soul of it persists: dark humor, science fiction and absurdity will be on the program. The first episode is called How Poopy Got His Poop Back. It highlights the zany character of Mr. Poopybutthole (Mr. Poop Box in French) and seems to look into the issues of addiction.

Navigating skillfully between tradition and renewal

The new voice actors clearly have nothing to be ashamed of when we hear the result. Obviously, for aficionados, the difference will be notable, but there really won’t be enough reason to abandon the series for so little. If we can consider that this is a new departure on the audio side, it still seems that the series retains its particular charm.

She has always been able to juggle effectively between offbeat scenes, cynical humor and harsh critiques of modern social facts. A very serious backdrop highlighted by a crazy and colorful coat of paint. This 7e season seems to take the same path by highlighting rather serious themes: impulse control or addiction for example. The provocative tone that characterizes it does not seem to have left the ship, and fortunately.

Even if Roiland’s absence from the show will certainly be felt, there is no doubt that it will find its audience. Featuring both familiar content and never-before-seen elements, Season 7 will arrive on October 15.
