despite the controversy over Netflix, a third installment is on the way

The film “365 dni”, released in June 2020 on Netflix, will be entitled to two sequels according to Deadline, despite the problems of this Polish feature film.

While a second part of 365 din had been confirmed, Deadline announced this Friday, May 14, 2021, that a third film would be in production. Actress Magdalena Lamparska is also reportedly back as Olga: “Laura and Massimo are reunited, but their new start is complicated by the family ties of Massimo and a mysterious man who comes into Laura’s life to win her heart and trust at all costs”, can we read. On May 9, 2021, Blanka Lipinska, the author of this Polish literary saga, had already confided in our colleagues from Pure Break concerning the suites: “You can expect even more sex than in the first movie. Much, much more. But also beautiful scenery, a lot of love between the main characters, but also more drama and more from Laura and Massimo. . “

In France, the first volume of the literary saga was released on May 6, 2021, published by Hugo Roman. The other two books will be released on June 3, 2021 and July 1, 2021. If the author provides more sex in the sequel to this franchise, let’s hope that these books will not contribute to the culture of rape, like the first part.

“365 dni” and the culture of rape

As a reminder, the film 365 din relates the relationship between Massimo and Laura. The first is from the Sicilian mafia while Laura is the sales manager. On a trip to Italy, the young woman crosses paths with Massimo who has been stalking her for years… And that’s not all. The young man kidnaps her by making her ingest a sedative. When she wakes up, he gives her a year to fall in love with him. Massimo is a toxic, manipulative and deeply sexist man. But all that comes out of this movie available on Netflix is love. The way in which relations of domination are treated in 365 din poses a real problem as this film is full of misogynistic stereotypes, encouraging a culture of rape.

When it was released on Netflix, and despite its meteoric success on the streaming platform, there were many negative reactions on social networks, including those from aufeminin’s editorial staff, regarding this Polish film. In March 2021, the Razzie Awards considered 365 din as being one of the worst films of the year 2020. According to Deadline, the production method of the next two sequels could well be a game-changer in terms of their content: “The difference is that the broadcasting rights for the first part of 365 din had been acquired by Netflix after the film was produced and completed. This time around, the films are directed and produced in-house at Netflix (although still produced by the original producers). This could imply a certain vigilance on the part of the streaming giant on artistic choices. So, we will surely have to expect a more cautious approach to some of the controversial themes of the first film. ” Still, these next two parts will be the adaptation of Blanka Lipinska’s books.
