Despite the signs – drivers overlooked the construction site and ended up in a pit

Curious car accident in Mauthausen (Upper Austria). A 23-year-old from Linz had overlooked a construction site and a little later ended up in a pit, unable to move forward or backward.

The 23-year-old from Linz was driving his VW Golf on Easter Monday at around 9.55 p.m. together with a 19-year-old from Ansfelden on the B3 in the Mauthausen municipality. In a construction site area there, the man drove against the signs (entry prohibited) in the direction of Linz. The two occupants of the car were able to get out of the car on their own. Other road users came to the rescue and made the emergency call. The two occupants were injured to an unspecified degree and taken to the accident hospital in Linz after first aid. The totally damaged car was lifted out of the Künette with a crane, and the Mauthausen volunteer fire brigade was on duty for more than two hours. The driver may have overlooked the construction site area, an alcohol test was negative.
