The launch of Destiny 2: Final Form is imminent and it is currently best to stay away from social media if you do not want to be spoiler some elements having leaked in recent days due to a blunder on the side of PlayStationwhich was accidentally deployed in the cloud from the PS5 a version of the game containing The Final Form and theEpisode Echoes to his Act III. Bungie also reacted on Twitter / X on this subject, explaining that players were thus able to have access to new content visible from the Collections, at the rewards or even at the start of the campaign. Even though we were able to play the expansion for two days at the studio (see our preview at the end of the article), certain elements that we may have seen passing by were unknown to us, so be careful! On the official communication side, many things were shown and detailed, which we will take stock of. After an overview of the scenery that awaits us in the Pale heart of Traveler and the two videos of ViDoc that we analyzed in detail, it is it’s the launch trailer’s turn to feature there. We can only warn you before you watch it, it is a montage of a little over two minutes including previously unseen cinematic passages from the expansion. Some were familiar to us, others completely unknown, but we are certain of one thing, it is much more pleasant to discover them while playing. At any rate, the marketing team did an excellent job, because it’s hard not to be hype seeing her. Also note that there will be no spoiler from us in terms of explanation and interpretation below.
It is therefore against the background of a version of the song everything i wanted by Billie Eilish as the assembly of these scenes takes shape. The artist is definitely in fashion with video game studios, being present in Fortnite Festival and having been used for the trailer launch of Diablo IV last year. This little digression completed, let us return to there Final formwhich is more threatening than ever.
So the video begins in the streets of Last Citywith A Guardian and his Spectrum walking around, a child visibly impressed by seeing him and… a Eliksni playing guitar with his four hands, while another is installed at a bar not far away. This last detail is truly heartwarming and clearly shows the evolution of the story. after all these years, since enemies, the members of this extraterrestrial race have for many become faithful allies and are therefore beginning to be able to mingle with the local population. The ethnic mix does not stop there, since an awakened merchant is also present. The representation of the people in the universe of destiny is rare enough for it to be important to show it to ussince it is for him that we are fighting, and indeed the whole universe in this case.
After a plan showing the Witness with a myriad of arms like a Buddhist god, a glimpse of terror is offered to us, because as the transformation of the apple indicates, it is the entire population and more broadly the entire Earth which is transformed into a chilling work of artwith perfectly sliced bodies, split limbs and expressions of fear on their faces, not to mention the immense arms rising in the background in the Last City which has turned into a real hell with its orange hues.
If that wasn’t already clear enough, the words of Mara Sov And Ikora Rey are unequivocal: “The Witness is approaching the Final Form” and “He petrifies everything into perfect immobility. » At least, even if you haven’t followed anything at all lore, everyone is now able to understand what it consists of and why it must be stopped at all costs. “Fun” fact, fans have often joked that since the Traveler is a sphere and the dark fleet of pyramids (tetrahedra), the Final form could be cubic. Seeing the plan on our planet and the division already seen within the new playable destination, it was ultimately not that far from the truth. Is this all just a vision or reality? And if so, could we lose Earth, temporarily or even permanently? It seems difficult to consider it from a video game point of view since the studio has already said it will no longer remove destinations, but we have already lost much more for less than that with Beyond the Light.
The fireside shot then shows us Cayde-6 (so in the Pale heart), Ikora who no longer wishes to bury loved ones, THE Crow whose shoulder she touches, no doubt in order to make him understand that she does not blame him for whatUldren did, Zavala and our Guardian here wearing the set of the destination highlighted on the promotional visuals. Brief, taking into account what was indicated in the ViDocwe have the main cast of the plot. Entry by ship into the portal of members of theAvant-garde places the emphasis on the commander, looking the cloth attached to his armor. This is the bandana ofAmanda Holliday as the confirmed THE senior narrative designer Robert Brookes.
The three successive shots are, to say the least, interesting in their similarity in terms of composition., each time with a character at the center. We had already seen the one with our Guardian. For the Crow facing the Last City with the Traveler overlooking it, it recalls the departure of the Traveler in orbit at the end of the Season of the Seraphim where he also stood there on a roof. On the other hand, for Zavalait clearly follows the other sequence of trailer in which the Great Machine flies away and reveals behind it what looks like a city with pyramidal architecture, with a ship in the background. If these are visions, is it a glimpse into the world of Precursorsthe civilization that gave birth to Witness ?
The new Assault appears to him fleetingly with a decor also already shown in the ViDoc. We then see a Spectrum to be torn to pieces, the shield of Zavala gripped by “corruption”, theAce of Spades of Cayde in piece and the eye ofIkora react, perhaps precisely to a vision, especially since theExo continues by stating: “You said he talked to you.” » It remains to be seen who this “he” or “it” is in English. Considering the pronoun used in Shakespeare’s language, this could be the Traveler.
Then comes a very strange scene with Zavalawhich seems to come from the same passage, where a mysterious veiled entity attracts his attention with a sort of broken mirror. Yes, it strongly resembles the statues encountered for yearsas at the end of Shadowkeep. Strangely, this makes us think of Dementors In Harry Potter. The dark side of this moment in the video is perhaps not for nothing, since a scene follows where Zavala is faced with a sort of portal filled with corruption, which he touches, with a flash showing his late wife Safiyah And Ikora saying that THE Witness only shows what he thinks everyone wants to see and that’s a lie.
Just as gloomy, Cayde is seen in front of a body covered with a shroud, the same one that covered his corpse at the time of Renegades…Let’s hope this doesn’t portend the death of a main character. If no cutting has been made, the Witness then proposes to Zavala to join him while numerous veiled figures fall like dominoes and that’Ikora urges him not to do this. Yes, even without the context, it’s pretty crazy and the hands grabbing his frightened face while dragging him with them doesn’t help to be reassured about what could happen to the character.
Other visions or sinister reality that awaits the casting, Ikora is shown fleeing while defending herself, with Eliksnis and humans at his side, while the Crow shouts the name of Cayde while Infamous become threatening. Gigantic hands shattering reality itself attack the two Hunters in a pyramid settingwith the scene of Golden gun already seen. To make matters worse, a cataclysmic scene in the Pale heart suggests that the Witness could ultimately succeed in activating its Final form. We even have the right to Vex Hydra attacking and touching Ikora. At the moment, we might fear the worst, but it’s a Guardian after all, then death would not be fatal to him.
Afterwards, besides the sentence well badass of Cayde (which uses the term “fate” in English), we have a plan worthy ofAvengers: Endgame with a whole armada of ships inside the Travelerwhether they are earthlings (several resemble the CIMU), eliksnis Or cabals. This reference is reinforced by teleportation (transmat) many Guardians coming to fight. Well, only five can be counted, but it’s still very classy. Is this a foretaste of the end of the campaign, of Raid or even what will happen next? After all, Bungie had clarified that it would undoubtedly take more to put an end to the Witness, so an all-alliance offensive on a battlefield would fit well with that. And in conclusion, we have Ikora preparing to throw a nova.
