Kate Middleton seemed ‘sad and unrecognisable’ at latest royal engagement, body language expert reveals

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for their first public appearance together since the dramatic interview between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey last week.

During the visit to School21 in Stratford, East London with her husband, William, 38, Kate, 39, didn’t seem her ‘smiley’ self, according to body language expert, Judi James.

“We’re so used to seeing Kate with a 100% dazzling smile and she almost looks unrecognisable when she stops smiling,” the body language expert explained. “It’s not what we expect from her.”

“There wasn’t a lot of eye smile going on above the mask,” Judi continued. “There was also a shot of William and Kate in the car where they were both looking either side. The two of them were looking very sad and reflective.”

Judi went on to highlight how Kate’s choice to wear a bright pink was coat no accident and was in fact a statement.

“That quite shocking pink colour is a strong, attention seeking statement,” said Judi. “To me, that would have implied that when she got up to go out that day, she wanted to make an upbeat statement. She didn’t have a desire to hide away or go under the radar.”

Despite the couple looking unhappy, Judi revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seemed closer than ever.

“I would describe them as even tighter than ever,” Judi said. “They look very like minded.”

“Their bonding signals are so intense now,” she continued. “There was a very intense mirroring and postural echo between them.”

“They’ve also both got a matching hand up to their waste,” the body language expert explained. “Even when they are back to back, they’re adopting the fig leaf pose.”

During the moment at the event when William told a member of the press that the royals are ‘very much not a racist family’, Ms James told us he showed much inner conflict.

The specialist also highlighted how the future king seemed to still have affection for his brother Harry, who he revealed he hasn’t spoken to since the bombshell interview.

“Although he seemed very firm, he looked as though there was still affection there for Harry,” she said. “When Harry was mentioned, he raises one eye brown and his eye expression is soft.”

“With the racist comment he made a head baton to absolutely nail the point he was making,” Judi continued. “I saw that as an inner conflict between the usually very private side of him, you could see that emotionally it almost burst out of him.”

It’s been reported that Kate and William are in “total shock” after Harry and Meghan’s interview, and feel like their issues could have been resolved in private.
