“First choose, then travel”: Deutsche Bahn increases quota of “super saver fare tickets” for Europe

On the occasion of the European elections on June 9, 2024, Deutsche Bahn is offering a special contingent of 500,000 saver fare tickets for train journeys across Europe. This means you can travel to a total of 16 countries, including some holiday regions, from just 19.90 euros. However, there is a catch to the promotion.

Europe tickets at a super-saver price of 19.90 euros
Driving on holiday by car is not only stressful, but also quite expensive: fuel, tolls and vignettes often cost several hundred euros – not to mention the general wear and tear. Flights, on the other hand, are considered particularly harmful to the climate and can be very nerve-wracking, especially when it comes to baggage handling. The only option left is to travel by train. Here, too, things don’t always go according to plan, but the chances of getting cheap tickets are good.
Europe tickets for 19.90 euros or 24.90 euros currently particularly good.
Because on the occasion of the European elections next Sunday, June 9, 2024, Deutsche Bahn is increasing the quota by 500,000 additional “(super) saver fare tickets” for many European countries. This means you can reach around 150 cities and holiday regions directly and comfortably by train from Germany. Children up to 14 years even drive for free However, the campaign only runs until election day – Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 23:59.
A not unimportant restriction: The increased quota only applies to Train journeys from September 2, 2024 – i.e. after the main season. Children travel free
Travelling with Deutsche Bahn Children up to 14 years accompanied by a person who is at least 15 years old, basically free of charge However, children aged 6 and over must be specified when booking. When using a City Ticket in Germany, children pay the child rate for a single journey in the respective network.
Children travelling alone Children aged 6 to 14 receive a 50 percent discount on the adult price on the German section of the route.

Restrictions of the Super Saver Fare offer
Due to the low price, you have to accept a few restrictions with the super saver fare offers. Cancellations at the “Super Saver Price” excluded while the normal “Saver Fare” can only be cancelled up to one day before departure for a fee of ten euros. However, anyone who changes their mind within twelve hours (720 minutes) of booking will receive the full amount paid back.
The ticket is only valid for long-distance trains (ICE, IC/EC) and for the days stated on your ticket. There is no train restriction for local trains (RE, RB, IRE, S-Bahn) that are used to get to the station and on to the destination. The journey must be completed by 10:00 a.m. the following day. The City Ticket is only available for the 130 participating cities in Germany.
Good to know: Due to the expected high occupancy during the European Football Championship, reservations are also required for many cross-border connections. However, this only applies from June 1 to September 1, 2024.
