Deutsche Telekom exceeds its forecast thanks to T-Mobile

Deutsche Telekom raised its full-year outlook for the second time and posted operating profit above expectations in the second quarter, thanks to the good performance of its American subsidiary T-Mobile and the growth of its European activities. The gross operating surplus after rents (Ebitdaal) reached 9.9 billion euros, exceeding analysts’ estimates of 9.84 billion euros, according to a consensus published by the company.

The turnover of the telecom operator, up 5.9%, stands at 28.2 billion euros, in accordance with consensus estimates.

The company now anticipates an adjusted Ebitdaal of around 37 billion euros in 2022, compared to a previous outlook of more than 36.6 billion euros.

Deutsche Telekom last month agreed to sell 51% of its towers business to a consortium of Canadian firm Brookfield and US private equity firm DigitalBridge, valuing the unit at 17.5 billion euros.
