A single-family house burns down completely in Oberhelfenschwil. Only the children survive.

As the St. Gallen canton police wrote in a message, a family lived in the house. The parents were initially considered missing, the two children, aged 12 and 14, were able to leave the house on time.

The St. Gallen canton police also announced that there is now the “sad certainty” that both parents were killed in the fire. The children are now looked after by relatives, with the support of the community, social services and the St. Gallen canton police. It is not known why it burned. The cause of the fire is now being clarified by the forensics competence center of the St. Gallen canton police.
