Dexter – Original Sin: A famous vampire slayer joins the cast of the prequel series

Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Your attention please ! Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy Summers in the cult 1990s series, joins the cast of the new series Dexter: Original Sin coming to the Paramount+ streaming platform.

From killer to killer boss

Gellar to guest star in prequel Dexter which takes place 15 years before the original series. This will follow the beginnings of Dexter Morgan (Patrick Gibson) within the Miami police force, as he navigates between murderous impulses that he can no longer ignore and begins to play vigilante serial killers under the direction of his father Harry (Christian Slater).

The star of Buffy plays Tanya Martin, head of the Miami Metro scientific police, and therefore Dexter’s new boss, but she will not be the only one giving orders to the young man.

It was also recently announced that Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) will play the role of homicide captain Aaron Spencer. Unlike Gellar, Dempsey plays a recurring character who has known Harry Morgan for a long time.

While Gellar is best known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayershe was also seen in the cinema in Sex Intentions, Scooby-Doo And The Grudgeand recently on television in another Paramount+ series, Wolf Pack.

The casting of Dexter: Original Sin also includes several actors playing characters known to fans of the parent series.

Molly Brown (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) plays the role of Debra Morgan, James Martinez (Love, Victor) plays Angel Batista, Christina Milian (Falling Inn Love) is Maria LaGuerta and Alex Shimizu (The Terror) plays the role of Vince Masuka. Actor Reno Wilson (Good Girls) plays a new character named Bobby Watt.

Dexter: Original Sin is currently filming with Clyde Phillips (Dexter) as showrunner and executive producer. Michael C. Hall (who played Dexter in all eight seasons of the original series and its sequel, Dexter: New Blood) is also in production.

Dexter And Dexter: New Blood can be seen or rewatched on Paramount+, the offer of which is accessible to Canal+ subscribers and via Prime Video. The ten episodes of Dexter: Original Sin will also be offered in France on this streaming service, at a date that is currently unknown.
