Just one week after the official launch of Diablo IVnumbers drop like so many legendaries after defeating a world boss.
Activision Blizzard has indeed split a report to this effect, and its new flagship game is officially a real hit, with statistics to say the least comical.
The Number of the Beast
If we had already had a glimpse of the success of the game when it was still only in early access, we now have confirmation after the opening of the Underworld on June 6th. Not content with being Blizzard’s best-selling game of all time over such a period, Diablo IV has become a new goose that lays golden eggs.
So, some 6 days after its June 6 launch, the latest installment in the legendary hack’n slash franchise has reportedly grossed over $666 million. Activision Blizzard also tells us that these figures largely explode the worldwide box office of all combined horror films released this year. You can not make that up.
Infernal statistics
In addition to crisp sales figures, the Activision Blizzard press release shared other statistics gleaned since the launch of Diablo IV June 2 in early access. The game has occupied players for 276 million hours (over 30,000 years in all).
Cleansing Sanctuary of Lilith’s demonic influence has resulted in the death of 276 billion monsters and 317 million heroes (including 5.8 million by the hand of the dreadful Butcher). Diablo IV also met with great success on Twitch, rising to first place on the platform of 1er to June 9 (mainly due to Twitch drops and affiliate partnerships, that goes without saying).
An almost total victory for Blizzard, which badly needed it after several scandals and outcry (generally deserved), both internally and around games like Diablo Immortal, Overwatch 2or Warcraft III Reforged, to only cite a few. And this is only the beginning of the adventure for Diablo IVwhile the first season will arrive in July and two extensions are already in preparation.
