Diablo is one of the most popular licenses, and it is logical that the community is eagerly awaiting the release of Diablo IV, scheduled for June 6, 2023. But to wait, some would like to (re) immerse themselves in a hack ‘n’ slash to be fully ready on release day. What games to play before the release of Diablo IV?
Even though Diablo is probably the best known hack ‘n’ slash, there are plenty of other titles that come close to the experience. Some deserve, moreover, to be discovered before the release of Diablo IVbut if you’re not sure which ones to head to, we’ve got you covered with a few.
Path of Exile
Path of Exile is a Free-to-play Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game developed and published by Grinding Gear Games. It is primarily based on the hack ‘n’ slash system and takes place in an open world called Wraeclast, a cursed abandoned continent in which players take on the role of exiles who have been banished for various reasons.
This one stands out for its complex character progression system, offering a huge skill tree, so that players can create a build that looks like them. A complete and original crafting system is also included, so that the experience is the most immersive.
In addition to single-player exploration and action, Path of Exile features a wide array of co-op game modes, like Arena Dungeons, Boss Raids, and Seasonal Leagues. Finally, the community benefits from constant follow-up, with new content including paid expansions that add new areas, stories and game mechanics.

An action-RPG license developed by the very popular Runic Games, Torchlight has three opuses, the latest of which was released in 2020. The fantasy universe particularly pleased the community, as did the mythical creatures that we encounter during road.
Players can choose from several character classes, each with their own unique skills and abilities. The license also features a wide variety of items to unlock and upgrade, as well as intense battles against powerful enemies. In addition, it is possible to take advantage of a familiar, granting some advantages.
Victor Vran
Victor Vran takes place in a dark and gothic world, filled with monsters of all kinds. The player embodies Victor Vran, a demon hunter in search of his missing friend. Mainly playable in solo, a cooperative mode was integrated after the release, allowing to push the experience and make it more interesting.
The gameplay of Victor Vran mainly consists of fighting hordes of monsters and facing powerful bosses in more or less difficult dungeons and arenas. The player can use a variety of skills and weapons to defeat enemies, and thus progress by improving their skills and the power of their items.
Grim Dawn
Developed by Crate Entertainment and launched in 2016, Grim Dawn is set in a post-apocalyptic world where human civilization has been almost entirely destroyed by demonic forces. Players embody a character that they create and must face the dangers of this ravaged world while trying to find out what happened and how to save humanity.
For this, they will benefit from a class system with modular skills, to create a unique build while leaving a wide choice of customization according to the style of play. Grim Dawn also offers a wide variety of objects and equipment to collect and use, as well as many enemies and bosses to face.
Diablo, what is it?
Diablo is a series of hack and slash video games developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The series was first launched in 1997 (in France) with Diablo, which was followed by Diablo II in 2000 and Diablo III in 2012. Diablo is known for its fast and addictive gameplay, as well as for its dark and Gothic populated by demons and mythical creatures to face during the various adventures.
The Diablo License is playable solo or cooperatively with other players online, and features a wide variety of characters to choose from, multiple classes, skills to unlock and level up, and intense battles against powerful enemies. The Diablo series is also known for its random item crafting and loot system, which allows players to discover new weapons and equipment with each playthrough.
