Diam’s: his documentary Salam will be released in cinemas after the Cannes Film Festival

Presented in a special session at the next Cannes Film Festival, Salam, the documentary written and directed by Diam’s, Houda Benyamina and Anne Cissé will be visible in cinemas on July 1.

In the show Boxoffice Pro for Thursday, May 12the President of Pan Distribution Philippe Godeau has announced that Salam, the documentary by Diam’s, Houda Benyamina (Divines) and Anne Cissé, will be released in cinemas on July 1st.

The feature film, which will be presented at Cannes in a special session, looks back on the career of the interpreter of “La boulette”. After 10 years of silence, Mélanie Diam’s confides for the first time in front of the camera on glory, psychiatry, the quest for meaning and her conversion to Islam. She takes us in the footsteps of Diam’s and reveals in this intimate and modest story the secrets of her story.

Salam thus shows the difficulties of existing in the eyes of others, of the public, and addresses the issue of mental health in a great French artist and the delicate choice to change her life.

Produced by Brut, the film will be broadcast on the platform from the start of the school year, but Pan Distribution will release it in theaters on July 1 as part of the decree on temporary visas. The latter makes it possible to program a work over a maximum of 500 screenings for a duration of two days of the same cinematographic week.

This is what Pathé did for CODA, Oscar for best film. Broadcast on Apple+ since August, the feature film was released in theaters for a limited time on April 23 and 24.

Philippe Godeau specifies at the microphone of our colleagues from Boxoffice Pro that “cThe screenings will take place before the holidays and before the Film Festival, over one day“. So let the fans note the date of July 1 in their diaries!
