A short chat before the statue unveiling and a drink afterwards: Prince Harry was probably only briefly connected to the meeting with Prince William.
It was apparently only a short visit: As the British media report, citing insiders, Prince Harry (36) only stayed around 20 minutes and a short drink at the side of his brother Prince William (39) after the unveiling of the Diana statue on Thursday. . As the “Daily Mail” writes, among others, Harry left the champagne reception in the pavilion of Kensington Palace at 3:05 p.m. He only arrived at 1:32 p.m.
Even before the actual ceremony, there was only a short, around ten-minute chat with his brother. While the siblings presented themselves to the public as a unit and laughed and joked together in front of the cameras, a tense relationship should still not have been overlooked behind the facade. In addition, it was not his brother who met him on arrival, “only” the press spokesman for Kensington Palace.
Princess Diana statue unveiled
On July 1st, William and Harry jointly unveiled a statue in honor of their late mother Princess Diana (1961-1997). A joint declaration by the brothers states: “Today, on the day our mother would have turned 60, we remember her love, her strength and her character.” She would have used these qualities for the good in the world and changed countless lives for the better. “Every day we wish that she was still with us,” the royal brothers continued. The statue is forever a symbol of her mother’s life and legacy.
The meeting of the two brothers had previously been eagerly awaited, as the relationship has continued to be tense since the much-discussed Oprah interview, among other things. Harry accused the royal family of racism and described himself – and his brother as well – as prisoners of the monarchy. Previously, the Megxit – the resignation of Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan (39), from all royal obligations and their move to the USA – caused tensions in the British royal family. According to British media reports, the brothers’ joint preparations for the ceremony on July 1 were initially allegedly limited to a “minimal exchange of text messages”.
