Diane Kruger navigates the challenges of being a mother in a new thriller series. Filming has already begun.

German actress Diane Kruger (47) will play one of the leading roles in the new psychological thriller “Little Desaster” for Paramount+. As the industry website “Variety” reports, she will be seen there alongside her English colleague Jo Joyner (47), “Bridgerton” actress Shelley Conn (47) and Irish actress Emily Taafe (40). The series is based on the novel of the same name by British bestselling author Sarah Vaughan. The plot focuses on four women, their friendships with each other and their everyday lives as mothers.

In a statement, Kruger said of her new engagement: “I think this series will provide a relatable story to examine society’s crippling judgement of mothers.” The story beautifully explores the fragility of reputation and the rapid disintegration of her character Jess’s seemingly perfect life. “I can’t wait to develop Jess’ character further and explore the challenges of being a mother from her perspective,” Kruger continued.

This is what “Little Desaster” is about

The series begins in a hospital: Jess (Kruger) brings her little daughter with a head injury to the clinic to see her good friend and emergency doctor Liz (Joyner). She cannot explain the circumstances that led to the wound on site. As the doctor on duty, Liz has to decide whether to inform the child welfare office or not. This dilemma triggers a chain of events that show how a single moment can break and destroy families and friendships.

According to the “Variety” report, filming has already begun. The young Icelandic filmmaker Eva Sigurdardottir (24) will direct. The series will initially be shown in Great Britain and Ireland on the streaming provider Paramount+, but will later also be available internationally.
