A still little-known feature of the company’s low-cost subsidiary, but implemented since last year. The good news is that if your relisted seat is purchased by another traveler, you can be refunded up to 80% of the ticket price.
The OUIGOSWAP service frees you from a burden… and a ticket
The end-of-year holidays are approaching, and if you fear finding yourself in trouble if you have to cancel your OUIGO trip at the last minute, the SNCF provides users with the OUIGOSWAP service, which allows you to ‘obtain or resell a train ticket. If you want to get rid of your ticket and resell it, simply log in to the OUIGO space using your reservation number and your email address, and follow four very simple steps.
- Choose the “OUIGOSWAP – Suggest reselling my ticket” option. You can then choose to free yourself from the return ticket, return ticket or both.
- Click the “Continue” button.
- Take note of the journey summary window.
- Then click on “I release my ticket” to place it for resale.
The ticket is then offered for sale as soon as the train is full. If it finds a buyer, you receive a voucher for 80% of the amount of the initial ticket, good for one year, says the SNCF. Finally, note that as long as the ticket has not been redeemed, you can cancel the resale.
Are you looking for a full train ticket? The service gives you a chance to land one
If you are on the other side of the platform and want to buy your ticket for a train that is full, you may encounter two situations. The first, very simple, indicates a ticket already available, which you can then purchase directly, without having to go through the registration form and email. To do this, simply choose the “Buy ticket” option.
If, on the other hand, there is no ticket available for the train you are looking for, you will then have to choose the “Join the waiting list” option, crossing your fingers. How to do ?
- After clicking on “Register on a waiting list”, a summary window for the chosen ticket opens.
- You must enter your email address to confirm, then “Validate” the operation. A window then indicates your place on the waiting list.
- If a traveler puts a ticket on sale, you are notified immediately by email or through a notification, to proceed with the purchase.
