Netflix regularly welcomes new series to its platform for the greatest pleasure of subscribers. Lately, it’s the mini-series Outreau: a French nightmare, directed by Serge Garde, released on March 15, 2024, which caused a lot of talk. In fact, it is placed in third position in the top 10, just behind The Gentlemen And 100% physical. Made up of 4 45-minute episodes, it tells the story of the Outreau affair, one of the biggest legal scandals in France. It all started in the early 2000s: social services in Boulogne sur Mer suspected sexual abuse of minors in the commune of Outreau in Pas-de-Calais. Several residents were then suspected of rape and sexual assault, including Thierry Delay and his wife Myriam Badaoui. The latter then admitted to having engaged in incestuous acts with two of her children Jonathan and Chétif Delay.

But, she will then accuse 17 other people, claiming that they participated in these rapes. The case is entrusted to a young judge, Judge Burgaud, which took into account the testimony of Myriam Badaoui and 18 people were then incarcerated from 2001 until the trial which took place in 2004. But, a turnaround: during the hearing, Myriam Badaoui exonerated several of the accused who were then acquitted between 2004 and 2005… These false accusations were a real trauma for the 13 innocent people who were wrongly incarcerated for 3 years. Without exit, the horse killing, a quadruple assassination

The horse killing is a quadruple assassination which did not fail to make the headlines in 2012. This case was adapted into a small series made up of 6 episodes of 20 to 30 minutes. Directed by Imen Ghouali and Camille Bovier-Lapierre, Without exit, the horse killing landed on Canal + in November 2023. If this case has attracted so much attention, it is because it is one of the most mysterious French criminal cases. Indeed, on September 5, 2023, four bodies shot dead were found in a small car park in Chevaline in Haute-Savoie.

These are three members of the same family, the Al-Hilli family who were on vacation as well as Sylvain Mollier, a cyclist who lived in the region. The Fourniret affair, in the head of Monique Olivier, the story of a serial killer

Michel Fourniret is one of the most famous serial killers. It was in 1987 that he committed his first murder and from there he didn’t stop until 2003. With his partner Monique Olivier, he kidnapped dozens of young girls before raping them and kill them in his van. He was arrested in 2003 and convicted of 7 murders although he allegedly committed at least 4 more.

He died on May 10, 2021, leaving many questions still present in the minds of the victims’ families and all French people. The Lambert affair is a little different from the previous ones. It deals with therapeutic relentlessness and euthanasia. Series, Lambert against Lambert, on behalf of Vincent which tells this story is available on Disney +. Directed by Elodie Buzuel and Vincent Trisolini, it is made up of 4 forty-minute episodes. The docuseries traces the true story of Vincent Lambert who, after a road accident in 2008, became seriously disabled. He is in a chronic vegetative state.

No longer able to make decisions, it was his family who had to do it for him, but the different members did not agree. Until the day of his death on July 11, 2019 in Reims, there were many twists and turns. This affair, which is at the same time legal, medical and even political, has been particularly publicized.
