The health of X.com is not in good shape. However, Elon Musk is hanging on and intends to see the replacement of the little blue bird fly for a long time to come.

On October 27, 2022, just a year ago, Elon Musk officially bought Twitter. Obviously full of ambitions, the billionaire afforded himself, a few months later, the luxury of renaming the famous platform to X.com.

As we could imagine, the various modifications made to the application in recent months led to a dizzying drop of 600 million visitors last September. If the blue bird is no more, certain clues suggest that the X is more tenacious than it seems…

From Twitter to X: a brand change that was not without consequences

It’s no secret: the financial health of Elon Musk’s social network is not particularly exciting. In addition to a significant drop in its number of users that occurred last month, X.com is also facing sluggish advertising activity, with many advertisers having terminated their contracts with the platform.

Concerning the average time spent daily per user, the data nevertheless seems to diverge from one research firm to another. If Sensor Tower estimates that it would have fallen by 2% during the third quarter of the year, in the United States, another company considers that it would have actually increased.

Not surprisingly, the media Tech Crunch informs us that downloads of the application began to decrease when it was renamed to X last July. At the same time, Meta deployed its micro-blogging network, Threads, which has just reached 100 million active users. What to scare Elon Musk? Not at all !

In the United States, as of January 2022, Twitter’s most active users spent an average of 18.8 minutes per day on the platform. Last July, despite the launch of Threads, this figure increased to 19.8 minutes. Last month it increased further, reaching 20.6 minutes per day.

These different data allow us to see the durability of what was formerly called Twitter. Despite obvious user drops, the application owned by the richest man in the world still seems to benefit from a solid (and loyal) user base, particularly in the United States.
