Didier Raoult: this measure taken by Simone Veil which he questions: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Unknown to the public a few weeks ago, Professor Didier Raoult emerged from the shadows as soon as the covid-19 arrived. And for good reason, the latter is certain to have found the effective remedy to fight against the virus: he advocates the use of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of covid-19. While the Minister of Health Olivier Véran wants new prescription rules following the publication of a study alerting to the ineffectiveness and risks of the drug, Professor Raoult persists and publishes new positive results.

To be heard, the microbiologist does not hesitate to say out loud what he thinks in a low voice. The latter, who multiplies the provocations, attacked Simone Veil, who has become an icon in France. During an interview with The Express, Didier Raoult said that the former Minister of Health (she held this post from 1993 to 1995) had not been up to the task. He questioned one of the actions she had taken.

"A rare stupidity"

"All the mess in which we are in France is because of the modellers. Take the numerus clausus (Editor's note: regulating the flow of medical students), set up in part by an icon of this country, Simone Veil "This dramatic restriction in the number of doctors was based on models that had incorporated neither longevity, nor the feminization of the profession, nor the general reduction in working time", he dropped. It is not the first time that it has challenged this measure. In a gallery unveiled in Point in 2018 he wrote: "This vision of rare stupidity has been perpetuated for decades".
