US comedian Kevin Hart, known among other things for his roles in the new “Jumanji” films with Dwayne Johnson, appeared in a fictionalized version of himself in the action comedy series “Die Hart” in 2020. Now the series has been filmed. The 2023 feature film “Die Hart” (not to be confused with the 2020 series of the same name) starts on Friday, February 24th, exclusively on the streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

In “Die Hart,” Kevin Hart plays a fictionalized version of himself

In “Die Hart”, US comedian Kevin Hart is dissatisfied with the progress of his acting career, similar to Nicolas Cage in the recently released “Massive Talent” (2022). In order to finally leave the role of the eternal, goofy sidekick behind, Kevin wants to establish himself as an action movie star.

But first he has to complete Ron Wilcox’s (John Travolta) Action Hero School, who of course confronts him in various strange ways with the adversities of the stunt business and badassness.

“Die Hart” brings together Kevin Hart, John Travolta and Jean Reno

In addition to main actors Kevin Hart and John Travolta (“In the Body of the Enemy”), Josh Hartnett (“Black Hawk Down”), Jean Reno (“Léon – Der Profi”) and Nathalie Emmanuel (“Fast & Furious 9”) are also part of the cast. The script for “Die Hart” was written by Derek Kolstad, who previously wrote the screenplays for the “John Wick” series. It was directed by Eric Appel, who has already worked on series such as “Silicon Valley” (2016).
