The "Star Wars" flick "Rogue One" gets a prequel in series form. Diego Luna revealed what the fans can look forward to.

"Star Wars" fans can look forward to numerous new formats. In addition to another season of "The Mandalorian", the new series "Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi", "The Book of Boba Fett", "Ahsoka" and "Andor" will be available. Leading actor Diego Luna (40) has now revealed a few details about the latter.

The series, which is currently being produced in London, will be a prequel to the 2016 film "Rogue One". The film tells the story of a group of rebels who steal the plans for the Death Star, Leia (Carrie Fisher) in the original "Star Wars" trilogy receives. "Rogue One" was hailed by fans and critics.

This is what the series offers

This is probably one of the reasons why Diego Luna's character Cassian Andor is now receiving his series spin-off from the Disney + streaming service. Twelve episodes are planned. Set to set five years before the events of "Rogue One", the new TV show will show Andor carrying out various espionage missions on behalf of the rebels. In addition to Luna, Alan Tudyk (49) as the droid K-2SO and Genevieve O'Reilly (43) as Mon Mothma as well as Stellan Skarsgård (69), Adria Arjona (28) and Fiona Shaw (62) are there.

Diego Luna has now revealed how the series wants to complement the film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that his character would get a new depth. The series aims to show how Andor becomes the person he is at the beginning of "Rogue One".

"You know what he's capable of"

"I think it's really interesting to tell a story even though we know where it ends," says Luna. If you approach such a story, it inevitably leads "into a deeper reflection process". You already know what Cassian is capable of, and that creates a lot of space to explore it further, "and that excites me as an actor very much," explains the 40-year-old. The format of the series gives him a lot of time to explore all these levels.

He is delighted to be able to play that role again, he adds, "I was very happy with what the film is all about". "Rogue One" was a story about ordinary people "who did incredible things, and in a way it's a movie that reminds us of the power we all have in pursuing a belief. So, yes, me feel blessed to have the chance to fill this role all over again ".
