Buenos Aires offers football fans a special highlight: a route that includes important stages in Diego Armando Maradona's life.

He is and remains one of the greats in the world of football: Diego Armando Maradona (1960-2020) was a magician on the ball and is now being honored by his country with a tour where fans and history lovers can look for traces of the famous Argentine .

The route leads through different districts of Buenos Aires, to places that were important milestones in Maradona's life or where he simply and simply spent a lot of time. It starts in the famous stadium "Estadio Diego Armando Maradona", home ground of the Argentinos Juniors, in whose youth Maradona was trained. At the tender age of 15, he made his stadium debut.

The house of the "hand of God"

After his death on November 25, 2020, a so-called Santuario, a "sanctuary", was set up, at the entrance of which a large mural with the player's face can be seen. If you like, you can visit the nearby museum "Maradona House" in the working-class district of La Paternal. "The hand of God" and family lived there for several years. The faithfully furnished apartment on Calle Lascano gives an insight into the life of the football icon and has many curiosities ready.

Past numerous facades where artists have expressed their admiration for Maradona, we continue to the Boca Juniors stadium ("La Bombonera"). Here the visitor can visit the private box of Maradona and the fan museum "Museo de la Pasión Boquense". In between, you can – as far as the Corona regulations allow – strengthen yourself in one of Maradona's favorite restaurants. In a pinch, you can also have a cup of coffee, because café culture is very important in the Argentine capital.
