Football fans undoubtedly remember this date. THE November 25, 2020football legend Diego Maradona took his last breath at just 60 years old following a cardio-respiratory crisis. Nicknamed “El Pibe de Oro” (“The golden kid” in French), he was the head of a very large family since he had eight children from six different mothers, born in Argentina, Cuba and Italy. But only two of them were legitimate children. Dalma, 36, and Giannina, 34, were born from the soccer star’s marriage to Claudia Villafañe, which lasted from 1984 to 2003.
Two years after saying “yes”, he became a father for the first time, in secret. Diego Junior, his eldest, was born in Naples in 1986. His mother, Cristina Sinagra, revealed on television that he was the son of the football legend. The Italian justice system recognized their relationship in 1993. They spoke to each other for the first time in 2002 after Diego Junior sneaked into a golf course where his father was playing. Five years later, Diego Maradona confessed everything and agreed to pay him alimony. Their real meeting took place in 2016.

Three Cuban children recognized in 2019
Diego Maradona’s fourth child, born in 1996 from his relationship Valeria Sabalain, was also present during this meeting. Jana, a law student in Buenos Aires, was recognized in 2014, after ambushing him with his mother. Three other illegitimate children from two different mothers were born in the early 2000s, while the footballer was in Cuba to treat his cocaine addiction. He recognized them in 2019. The youngest, Diego Fernandes, 10 years old, is the fruit of his relationship with Veronica Ojeda, from whom he separated during the pregnancy.
In all, Diego Maradona recognized eight children, scattered across the globe, and with conflicting relationships. Jana, interviewed by the Infobae site, revealed that all, except the Cubans, gathered at their father’s bedside to celebrate his 60th birthday on October 30, in other words less than a month before his death.
