Dieter Hallervorden: "Voles" are sitting on the street because of Corona

Dieter Hallervorden has put the ensemble of his cabaret stage "Die Wühlmäuse" in front of the door. Corona losses are too high.

The effects of the Corona measures hit the cultural businesses hard. Dieter "Didi" Hallervorden (84) has now also drawn the necessary conclusions: he dismissed the ensemble of his cabaret "Die Wühlmäuse", founded in 1960, reports the "Berliner Kurier".

The team got the news unexpectedly, according to the regional newspaper and quoted from the e-mail that Hallervorden wrote to each of his employees: "You can imagine the extent to which I was already drained by the month-long closure of my theater. And at a certain point, despite all the love for theater and cabaret, there are limits to the willingness to make sacrifices and the means available for this.

The sacked ensemble members Mathias Harrebye-Brandt (45), Birthe Wolter (38), Robert Louis Griesbach (59) and Santina Maria Schrader are hard hit by the news. Griesbach posted "RIP Wühlmäuse Ensemble" on Facebook.

Bankruptcy should be avoided

Hallervorden justified the step towards his actors with the corona pandemic, the failed performances and the lost income. In the e-mail, the 84-year-old admits: "It was a very difficult decision for me, but now I have to concentrate intensively on saving my two theaters over time." Hallervorden also runs the Schlossparktheater in Steglitz in Berlin.

Hallervorden wants to prevent the bankruptcy of his 60-year-old cabaret stage by all means: "Because I support it with my private means and absolutely want to keep it alive." At the request of the "Berliner Kurier" Hallervorden did not rule out reactivating the old ensemble after all.
