He is one of the most successful comedians: Dieter Nuhr. In a new show he goes on a journey through the history of humor.

Fans of Dieter Nuhr (60) can look forward to: The successful cabaret artist is getting a new show! From April 1st, the 60-year-old will host the three-part series of the pay-TV channel Sky "A Brief History of Humor – with Dieter Nuhr". "I'm looking forward to my journey through the history of humor to find out why and what people laugh about," explained Nuhr at the station's press conference on Monday. "The series is supposed to shed a scientific light on humor," adds Sky Entertainment Vice President Christian Asanger.

"Quatsch Comedy Club" is coming back

Nuhr's commitment is part of Sky's new entertainment offensive. As of April 1st, the pay-TV broadcaster is expanding its range to include two new station brands: "Crime" and "Comedy". The legendary "Quatsch Comedy Club" will also celebrate its comeback. "Comedy has carried us through the dark times of the last few months. It has never been more important to bring humor to people," said moderator Thomas Hermanns (57). The show, which can be seen in double episodes every week from April 1st at 9:25 pm, includes old comedy hands like Bülent Ceylan, Matze Knop and Helene Brockhorst as well as some new faces in stand-up comedy.

With the award-winning series "Schitt's Creek" (from April 7th, 8:15 pm), the station is also adding a very special delicacy to its program. The Canadian sitcom, which could only be seen in the USA on the relatively unknown pay-TV channel Pop TV, won a total of nine Emmys last year – including all of the key comedy categories. Other international highlights include the successful British format "Spitting Image" (from April 6th) and new seasons of "Breeders", "Avenue 5" and "Code 404".

How did the Wirecard scandal come about?

One of the highlights on the Sky Crime channel is the documentary "Wirecard Scandal", which will be shown on May 13th and which addresses one of the biggest company scandals in German financial history. The collapse of the Aschheim-based company Wirecard left an unbelievable debt of 3.2 billion euros.

The series "Black Shadows – Serial Murder in the Hospital" tells the story of the nurse Niels Högel, who killed hundreds of people with syringes and thus became the biggest serial killer in German criminal history.

With Philipp Fleiter, the broadcaster has also hired the moderator of the popular true crime podcast "Crimes from next door – True Crime from the neighborhood", who will retell even more spectacular criminal cases from Germany in a series of the same name from summer 2021. The series "Lawyers for Evil – Between Law and Conscience" will illuminate criminal cases through the eyes of a criminal defense attorney starting this summer. International productions such as "The Vow" (April 1st) or "The Mark of a Killer – Murderers and their trademarks" (April 5th) complete the offer.
