Digital future – Land Tirol starts 2023 with offensive in schools

The state’s digitization offensive in local schools is entering the next round. LR Cornelia Hagele primarily wants to promote the purchase of equipment. “Digi Mint coaches” are also in focus.

Building and programming robots, experimenting with the 3D printer or working with the CNC milling machine – more value should be placed on this in the future. All this happens in high-tech workshops, so-called FabLabs. The state of Tyrol supports this with the digitization offensive “Education 4.0 – Tyrol learns digitally”. 115,000 euros flow for the purchase of appropriate equipment. “With the digitization offensive, we are supporting schoolchildren and teachers in learning how to deal with the digital world. This not only includes investments in the IT equipment of the schools, but also in digital skills,” explains Education Minister Cornelia Hagele. In addition, the state is also promoting the IT equipment of “Digi-Mint Coaches” – i.e. specially trained teachers who the colleagues at the elementary schools are on hand in all areas of digitization. “They not only act in an advisory capacity, but also teach with the class teacher in the form of team teaching in the classroom itself,” says Hagele. The focus of the digitization offensive is on infrastructure and IT equipment with digital teaching and learning laboratories.
