- The sale of public transport tickets should become as digital as possible.
- The aim is for tickets to be normally bought online from 2035, said René Schmied, President of the Alliance Swiss Pass Strategy Council, in an interview with the “CH Media” titles.
- An important reason for this is therefore the cost.
Schmied explains that the infrastructure for analogue sales is very expensive. But it is also clear: “It must remain possible to buy a ticket without a cell phone.” It is conceivable that there are still machines at major hubs or in external shops.
Public transport should generally become as easy as driving a car. Offers for young people would be developed for this. According to Schmied, the Alliance Swiss Pass will provide information about the alignment in the first half of 2023.
The cheaper GA alternative is coming
The new credit subscription, which will be introduced in December next year, has already been decided. This should give customers who spend CHF 1,000 to 4,000 a year on public transport a cheaper alternative to the general subscription (GA).
However, the new subscription is not for regular commuters, as Schmied said: “Anyone who travels the Bern-Zurich route two to three times a week travels more cheaply with the GA travelcard.”
