Digital solidarity to help French people online

This Sunday, the solidarite-numerique.fr site and an associated telephone number were launched to help people who struggle to use the Internet for their online procedures.

During confinement, the French need digital tools more than ever to fill out their derogatory travel certificate, do their shopping or make an appointment with the doctor.

Nearly 13 million of our fellow citizens, or 1 in 5 French, have difficulty using the Internet and thus find it difficult to carry out certain procedures online. This is why this Sunday, March 29, the government launched the site solidarite-numerique.fr. It is an educational center that offers tutorials and explanations to facilitate the completion of administrative procedures such as registering at a job center or filling out a CAF certificate. The site also learns to use digital tools to facilitate their daily life such as for example to go to school at home, stay in contact with loved ones or consult a doctor remotely.

"The players in digital mediation, who are all those who have been engaged for years to ensure that people are trained in the uses of digital technology, are launching a site this evening: solidarite-numerique.fr", said Secretary of State for Digital, Cédric O, on France Inter.

An associated telephone number, 01 70 772 372, can also be reached from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. These are 700 "digital mediators " volunteers who will answer questions from those who wish to be counseled to become more comfortable on the Internet.

Digital, increasingly essential

The State Secretariat for Digital said that today "digital has become almost a vital good in our society". As part of the public service transformation project, 250 administrative procedures "iconic"will be dematerialized by 2022.

In February, Cédric O announced the launch of Digital Pass, gradually made available to French people who struggle to use the Internet. Beneficiaries will be able to access a support service for digital tools and uses.

30 million euros have been released to reduce the digital divide that Emmanuel Macron denounced during a speech at the Salon des Maires in November 2019.
