DigixArt announces Mile 0, a prequel to Road 96, scheduled for April 4th

A short week ago, the Montpellier studio DigixArt, on the strength of the success of its previous titles including Road 96teased the probable and imminent arrival of a DLC for its latest title, which has been praised many times and which won no less than 5 statuettes at the last Pégases du Jeu Vidéo (the next edition of which will take place at the beginning of March).

It didn’t take long since the studio, which was bought by PLAION (formerly Koch Media), a subsidiary of Embracer Group last year, has just announced on its networks the release on April 4th on all platforms where is present Road 96 ofa prequel to the adventure of our teenagers of Petria and having the title Road 96: Mile 0and edited by Ravenscourt.

Let’s find Zoe and a (not so) new character, Kaito

Direction the land of Petria, in the luxurious area of White Sands, just before the events of 1996 depicted in the original game, for a prequel centered on two characters: Zoe, whom we meet several times during the adventure on the roads and whose wealthy father works in the government of the country, while Kaito is a newcomer to the franchise, but who could well remind something connoisseurs of games signed DigixArt.

Indeed, the young man, whose parents work at White Sands, is quite simply the hero of the studio’s first game, the rhythm game Lost in Harmonyand thus integrates here the universe of Road 96, as in a kind of “Digixart Games Universe”, the opportunity to highlight the destiny of these two teenagers with opposite beliefs and origins and to discover their inner worlds in psychedelic sequences on skates in particular.

This extension, whose magnitude compared to the basic game is still unknown, should therefore mix two video game genres: the narrative game and the rhythm game in order to learn more about the events of 1986 and the attack on the border of the country that caused all the mess that followed.

In the press release announcing the game, Yoan Fanise, CEO and Creative Director of the studio (whom we had the chance to interview) adds some details: “In Mile 0, we wanted to show where Zoe came from and why she left her comfortable life behind. However, we didn’t want to do it in a conventional way, we opted for a more delirious way, with musical sequences full of metaphors, in which you go through Zoe and Kaito’s convictions and doubts. The funny thing is YOU get to decide how you want them to evolve”.

Note that, as in any good musical game, the soundtrack should be of high quality and will also be signed The Midnightwhose first single Land Locked Heart (which can be heard in the trailer) will be available soon. Road 96: Mile 0 will therefore be available on April 4 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
