The prerogative of the “+” is therefore no longer reserved for Qualcomm. MediaTek has announced a version of its high-end processor, dubbed Dimensity 9000+. This variation is obviously strong to compete with the American founder.
On the strength of its good financial results thanks to its high-end processors, the Taiwanese founder MediaTek intends to maintain this path with a new SoC, the Dimensity 9000+. This is a vitaminized version of the Dimensity 9000 that we know well and in charge of competing with Qualcomm and its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, also presented recently.
The new MediaTek chip is therefore a variation of the Dimensity 9000. It benefits from a higher rate, going from 3.05 to 3.2 GHz on the Cortex-X2, its main heart. The architecture does not move one iota since MediaTek retains the famous 1 + 3 + 4. The company announces a performance gain of around 5% on the CPU. On the GPU side, it is a 10% increase which is mentioned, in particular thanks to the arrival of the Mali G710 MC10.
Something new in the image processing department
But the gain in power is not the only novelty to remember from this Dimensity 9000+. MediaTek took the opportunity to review its ISP (image processor). The Imagiq 790 can now capture 18-bit HDR video on three modules simultaneously. It also supports the capture of snapshots up to 320 megapixels and promises to correct digital noise on videos much more effectively thanks to even more advanced image processing.

Finally, the Dimensity 9000+ gains better connectivity with the addition of 6E wifi support, Bluetooth 5.3 and better 5G downlink (up to 7Gb/s). The improved version of the Dimensity 9000 offers improvements on the screens with the support of WQHD+ (refresh rate at 144 Hz) and FHD+ (180 Hz).
MediaTek indicates that its SoC will be available from the third quarter of 2022, i.e. during the summer. The Dimensity 9000+ should therefore be available on smartphones due to be released at the start of the school year.
