At the end of this special year, the classic sketch "Dinner for One" should not be missing on New Year's Eve. These are the broadcast dates.

"Dinner for One": The title has never been more appropriate than this year and yet, or perhaps precisely because of this, the sketch classic will also be a must for many on New Year's Eve in 2020. But where will butler James (Freddie Frinton), Miss Sophie (May Warden) and their long-dead friends Mr. Winterbottom, Mr. Pommeroy, Admiral von Schneider and Sir Toby be seen this year?

NDR will show the traditional version four times on December 31: at 3:45 p.m., at 5:10 p.m., at 7:40 p.m. and shortly before midnight at 11:35 p.m. The first shows them at 3:50 p.m. and on January 1 at 5:10 a.m. "Dinner for One" is running on BR at 6:45 p.m. and at 00:05 a.m. on BR. In the SWR / SR there is the abridged Swiss version of "Dinner for One" on December 31st at 12.40 pm and 4.45 pm and again at 7:25 pm in the original version.

The sketch was recorded with the British humorist Freddie Frinton and his colleague May Warden in May 1963 in the legendary Studio B at the NDR in Hamburg. First broadcast on New Year's Eve in 1972, the skit about butler James and Miss Sophie belongs to the turn of the year like champagne and – before Corona – fireworks. But only in Germany, in Great Britain the short film is hardly known.
