For a long time it was not known whether “American Fiction” would open in Germany in time for the 2024 Oscars. Now the film ends up directly in the stream.
Ten films are competing in the Best Film category at the Oscars this year. However, German film fans who want to see all the nominated films in time before the big awards ceremony on March 10, 2024, were starting to get nervous. While nine films have been available to stream or at least in the cinema for some time, “American Fiction” took a surprisingly long time to arrive.
A German theatrical release in January was announced, but not kept and then the film became quiet for a long time. Amazon Prime Video has been listing the film under the title “American Fiction” for several weeks, although it is available for purchase, rental or other viewing options. This has changed now!
In Germany exclusively at Amazon
“American Fiction” has been available as a subscription to Amazon Prime Video since February 27th. Amazon only announced the release hidden in a press email on February 23, 2024, but the film is not being widely advertised in the Prime Video program.
The satire with Jeffrey Wright and Sterling K. Brown has already won various film awards and has a chance of winning a total of 5 trophies at the Oscars. Even though the award for best film probably goes to “Oppenheimer,” you shouldn’t miss “American Fiction” – especially now that the film is so easy to watch.
