Director Dieter Wedel died in Hamburg on July 13.
(dpa) The director Dieter Wedel is dead. This was announced by the Munich I district court on Wednesday. Criminal proceedings against Wedel were pending there. Accordingly, Wedel died on July 13 in Hamburg.
In 2018, several women accused Wedel of having sexually assaulted her. He is said to have raped an actress. The Munich public prosecutor had accused him last year. Wedel denied the allegations with an affidavit.
Wedel went to a clinic in 2018 when the allegations became public. His health suffered damage from the prejudice, he admitted in one personal press statement known. He considers the topic of “abuse of power” to be “extremely relevant”, but he “never could have imagined” that the debate “could affect me at some point”.
